Rainbow Lorikeets on an apple tree

Sunday, 1st March, 2020

En route to the supermarket in the afternoon these Rainbow Lorikeets were making a meal of a local resident's apples in Traralgon, Victoria. Some of the bolder ones stayed to pose for pics in the tree, however the light wasn't great for photography given the overcast sky and rain clouds brewing. Photos by Jarret Purkis

Celebrating Birds and Biodiversity this Christmas

Received this fabulous video from Cornell Lab of Ornithology with my email subscription for Christmas, and now would love to share it here in the same spirit-it's a really great clip, enjoy!

This inspiring footage of birds and wildlife celebrates the Cornell Lab of Ornithology's long-standing tradition of documenting and sharing information about the natural world. Thanks to you, that tradition continues. We hope you'll keep watching, listening, and exploring with us to improve the understanding and protection of birds and biodiversity.
